Introduction: Awards

The first actor to win an award for their CG character acting was Andy Serkis in 2003. Andy Serkis provided voice and motion-capture performances for Gollum in The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers (2002). The award was for Best Digital Acting Performance by the Broadcast Film Critics Association (BFCA). The category has not repeated to date (2013). The award was not to Gollum but to the human actor behind Gollum, note.
