Synactors on stage

To date (2013) synthetic actors have not performed on a theatre stage to a live audience. Performances such as those of CG character Hatsune Miku (pictured above) are the result of pre-recorded sequences using human performance motion capture back-projected onto a near-transparent stage screen. Miku's synthetic voice is also pre-recorded but the MIDI software that produces her voice, Yamaha's Vocaloid, could potentially be used as the basis for a live-action synthetic actor's song performance.
