Synactors in games

The first synactors to appear in games were bad-guys Blinky, Pinky, Inky and Clyde in Pacman (1980). The eponymous Pacman character, under the player's direct control, had no characteristics to qualify him as an autonymous actor. Blinky, Pinky, Inky and Clyde, however, were designed to exhibit individual "personality" traits and to adjust their movements in a seemingly random or erratic fashion, dependent on position or movements of the Pacman character to varying degrees.
